As in-person learning has resumed on campus, we at The Writing Center are dedicated to accommodating the widest variety of student needs. In this light, we will continue to offer distance tutoring alongside in-person options for appointments. Simply select the option that best suits you when signing up, and we’ll try to accommodate the request. How to upload & share your document with a tutor using GoogleDocs
1. Log into your LIU email account or gmail account.
2. On the upper righthand side, you will see nine dots arranged in a square shape.
3. Click on this and scroll down until you come to “Drive” and then click on that.
4. On the following page, click on "+ New" on the lefthand side of the screen.
5. A pop-up box will open and allow you to upload a document. Select "File upload".
6. Select the file on your computer that you wish to upload and click "Open".
7. Ensure that the upload is complete on the lower righthand corner.
8. Now, there are two ways to share your newly uploaded document.
The first option allows you to share directly from your Google Drive. Right-click your document and select the "Share" button.
The second option allows you to share the document when it is already opened in 'GoogleDocs'.
9. Regardless of which sharing method you select, the same pop-up will open up. Type in the email address of the recipient you would like to share the document with. Then, click "Done".
10. Ensure that 'Editor' is toggled in the share settings. Remember to hit that "Send" button to ensure that you've shared your file.
